About the Family:
Three years ago, Chenise and her daughter Heaven created a vision board together displaying their hopes and dreams for the future. One of the dreams at the center of that vision board was to one day own a home with a bright yellow front door.
As a Mortgage Payment Specialist at Truist, Chenise helps homeowners with mortgage payments and loss mitigation assistance.
Chenise found out about Richmond Habitat’s Affordable Homeownership Program when her work volunteered on one of their builds. She took a chance, applied and was accepted.
During their free time, Chenise and Heaven love going to the movies, going to the park, and spending time just talking.
Now Chenise is diligently working to complete her 350 hours of “sweat equity” and 10 financial and homeownership education classes before closing on her home. When her house is completed, Chenise will purchase her home and pay an affordable, zero percent interest mortgage, making her dream of homeownership, and that bright yellow front door, a reality.
“Owning my own home will honestly mean the world to me. I will feel like I have the opportunity to show my daughter that she can do something big and anything that she can put her mind to. To be able to say that I will be a homeowner is such a blessing for me and my daughter.” - Chenise Simmons, Future Homeowner
