BUILD: N. Ivy Rehab

Expired

Description

Thank you for joining us at this build project in Highland Springs!

Family Bio:

Bianca is a single-mother to two teenage sons and one young daughter.  Her children are very active in sports, so sometimes it can be challenging working full-time and shuttling them to all of their activities.  Bianca is so proud of her children and how responsible they have become.  They all pitch in to help with chores and her older sons help to care for their younger sister while Bianca is working.

Currently, they are living in a small, 2-bedroom apartment.

Bianca found out about Habitat’s affordable homeownership program from her neighbor in 2016.  She applied, but didn’t quite qualify the first time.  She took Habitat’s advice to heart, worked on her credit and reapplied.  Her hard work paid off, and she was accepted into the program.

Now Bianca is finishing up her ten homeownership and financial education classes and 350 hours of “sweat equity.”  Construction on her home in the Highland Springs area will begin in July of 2020.

When asked what owning her own home will mean to her and her family, Bianca responded, “More space, our own privacy, a place to call ours, stability.”
