ABOUT VOLUNTEERING:

MINIMUM AGE: All volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to volunteer on a construction site. Any volunteers under the age of 18 need to have a waiver signed by their parent/guardian. UPDATE: Any youth, that are 16 and 17 MUST have an adult volunteer with them until otherwise directed by a Habitat Supervisor that they are okay to come out to volunteer independently! BOTH the youth and adult volunteers should have volunteer accounts, completed waivers and signed up for shifts. Clothing: Volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes.  Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing that they don't mind getting dirty.  Dress appropriately for the weather and keep in mind that neither indoor nor outdoor work sites have heat or air conditioning. Volunteers should not wear cropped shirts or shorts that prevent the ability to bend over without being exposed.   Please bring a lunch. Volunteer: Richmond Restore Volunteer

It is hot this summer! Please read: American Red Cross Heat & Hydration Safety

The ReStore volunteers will assist the ReStore Staff with receiving, pricing, and processing donations. The Volunteers will also need to manage one or more sections of the store, keeping the donations they process moving through our stockroom. Once the donations have been processed, volunteers will hit the floor with enthusiasm and serve as a resource for keeping the store sections stocked, tidy, and providing assistance with customers throughout their shift. Volunteers are expected to be greeting every customer that enters the ReStore.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Receive incoming donations, providing donors with outstanding customer service while respecting social distancing guidelines, and enforced safety protocol as outlined by Richmond Habitat. Processing and sanitizing incoming customer donations with guidance from the ReStore Staff. Assist in various day-to-day operations in the donations processing center and on the sales floor. Responds promptly to customer inquiries; answering questions and providing customer service to the best of their ability. Provide excellent customer service to all shoppers Organize items and maintain the cleanliness of the store Assist in rearranging vignettes and other special displays Learn the pricing structure for various frequently donated items. Responds promptly to radio communications between staff and other volunteers.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Belief in Habitat for Humanity's global mission, principles, and structure. Works well independently but can also work well in a group or as part of a team. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.  Works well independently but can also work well in a group or as part of a team. Ability to lift and/or move heavy furniture and appliances with furniture dollies and carts. Ability to sit or stand for up to 3 hours in warehouse conditions. Adheres to all ReStore safety and dress code regulations.
