Volunteer: VCU Basketball Concessions 25/26

Richmond Habitat for Humanity is partnering with VCU again this year to provide volunteers for a concessions stand at each of the home games. Each team will run the concessions stand and in return Habitat will receive 10% of food and beverage sales as well as any tips received. 

 

Volunteers must be 21 years of age, and able to stand for entire shift.

 

Clothing:

Volunteers must wear long pants and closed toe shoes. If you have a Habitat t-shirt you are welcome to wear it, otherwise we have branded aprons that volunteers can borrow for the length of their shift, 

Parking:

There will be no parking provided, so please consider ride-sharing, street parking, or public transportation. The Broad St Parking Deck will be open for $12 a car, CARD ONLY

Arrival:

Tell security you are volunteering with Habitat for Humanity at concessions and they should let you in.  Our concession stand is located in the stadium, behind the media platform.

The ReStore volunteers will assist the ReStore Staff with receiving, pricing, and processing donations. The Volunteers will also need to manage one or more sections of the store, keeping the donations they process moving through our stockroom. Once the donations have been processed, volunteers will hit the floor with enthusiasm and serve as a resource for keeping the store sections stocked, tidy, and providing assistance with customers throughout their shift. Volunteers are expected to be greeting every customer that enters the ReStore.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Receive incoming donations, providing donors with outstanding customer service while respecting social distancing guidelines, and enforced safety protocol as outlined by Richmond Habitat. Processing and sanitizing incoming customer donations with guidance from the ReStore Staff. Assist in various day-to-day operations in the donations processing center and on the sales floor. Responds promptly to customer inquiries; answering questions and providing customer service to the best of their ability. Provide excellent customer service to all shoppers Organize items and maintain the cleanliness of the store Assist in rearranging vignettes and other special displays Learn the pricing structure for various frequently donated items. Responds promptly to radio communications between staff and other volunteers.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Belief in Habitat for Humanity's global mission, principles, and structure. Works well independently but can also work well in a group or as part of a team. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.  Works well independently but can also work well in a group or as part of a team. Ability to lift and/or move heavy furniture and appliances with furniture dollies and carts. Ability to sit or stand for up to 3 hours in warehouse conditions. Adheres to all ReStore safety and dress code regulations.

Minimum Age Requirements: Any volunteers under the age of 18 MUST have a waiver signed by their parent/guardian, and are NOT able to use power tools or ladders over 4 feet.

This listing is only to gather interest about becoming a volunteer crew leader. Responding to it does not guarantee an assignment. 


We are looking for some dedicated volunteers to help us expand our construction program! Volunteer Crew Leads will work alongside a Site Supervisor at least 2 days per month and will be responsible for their own small crew of 2-4 volunteers during the day. 

VCLs guide, teach and engage small groups of unskilled or semi-skilled volunteers. They learn, show and lead construction tasks to be done safely and correctly and assure that volunteers have enough meaningful work to have a satisfying experience. A VCL should enjoy being around people, taking initiative, and working in a fast paced environment. If you enjoy volunteering and want to take the next step in community involvement, this program is perfect for you!


Requirements:

18+Have worked on one of our Habitat build sites at least 2 times and been approved by a Site Supervisor to move forward in the processCommit to 2+ days per month (Thurs-Sat) for at least a 3 month period. Complete a background check upon approvalGeneral construction knowledge and a willingness to learn (and then teach!) new skills

Processing and sanitizing incoming customer donations with guidance from the ReStore Staff. Assist in various day-to-day operations in the donations processing center and on the sales floor. Responds promptly to customer inquiries; answering questions and providing customer service to the best of their ability. Provide excellent customer service to all shoppers Organize items and maintain the cleanliness of the store Assist in rearranging vignettes and other special displays Learn the pricing structure for various frequently donated items. Responds promptly to radio communications between staff and other volunteers.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Belief in Habitat for Humanity's global mission, principles, and structure. Works well independently but can also work well in a group or as part of a team. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.  Works well independently but can also work well in a group or as part of a team. Ability to lift and/or move heavy furniture and appliances with furniture dollies and carts. Ability to sit or stand for up to 3 hours in warehouse conditions. Adheres to all ReStore safety and dress code regulations.

Minimum Age Requirements: Any volunteers under the age of 18 MUST have a waiver signed by their parent/guardian, and are NOT able to use power tools or ladders over 4 feet.

MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT AS OF JULY 1 2023: All volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to volunteer.  Any youth, that are 16 and 17 MUST have an adult volunteer with them until otherwise directed by a Habitat Supervisor that they are okay to come out to volunteer independently! BOTH the youth and adult volunteers should have volunteer accounts, completed waivers and signed up for shifts.

Clothing: Volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes.  Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing that they don't mind getting dirty. Volunteers should not wear cropped shirts or shorts that prevent the ability to bend over without being exposed.

Tools,  supervision, and water are provided. We have cups of water in our ReStores but we do recommend bringing a reusable water bottle to refill for convenience!

Program: Chesterfield ReStore


The ReStore volunteers will assist the ReStore Staff with receiving, pricing, and processing donations. The Volunteers will also need to manage one or more sections of the store, keeping the donations they process moving through our stockroom. Once the donations have been processed, volunteers will hit the floor with enthusiasm and serve as a resource for keeping the store sections stocked, tidy, and providing assistance with customers throughout their shift. Volunteers are expected to be greeting every customer that enters the ReStore.
